Song of the Week: “Stereo” by James Carter

by Douglas Cowie on 9 February 2018

Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.

This is “Stereo” by James Carter:

Back in 2004, jazz saxophonist James Carter recorded an album of Pavement songs, for a 2005 release called Gold Sounds. The track listing is a mix of obvious and less obvious choices from the Pavement catalog, and the album itself is playful and fun.  It’s always interesting to hear a group of musicians where you can tell they’re having a good time. For comparison’s sake, here’s the Pavement original.
