Song of the Week: “Repack” by Andrew Cohen and Light Coma

by Douglas Cowie on 7 July 2017

Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.

This is “Repack” by Andrew Cohen and Light Coma:

Andrew Cohen played in the excellent Silkworm, and also in the equally wonderful Bottomless Pit. This song is from Unreality, the new and first album by Andrew Cohen and Light Coma, and my word, what a wonderful song it is, and what a wonderful album it is.  I love Andrew Cohen’s guitar playing, and his singing as well.  What really gets me about Andrew Cohen’s songs, though, is the way the guitar and voice play with each other, and the intensity of that interaction.  Every song is both bold and fragile at once, and I find myself, listening to this album in particular, almost holding my breath the whole time.
