Song of the Week: “Ground Hog” by Peter Feldmann

by Douglas Cowie on 23 June 2017

Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.

This is “Ground Hog” by Peter Feldmann:

I first came across this song in my freshman year of high school, on Groundhog Day, when our biology teacher, who performed folk songs with a friend of hers, played it in class, accompanying herself on an autoharp. I really like this version by Peter Feldmann, which I discovered a few days ago when I was looking up different versions of the song. I really like his banjo playing, and the sound of that particular banjo, the head of which is apparently made of ground hog hide.
